    Class Descriptions:
Break Down (DTBD) Beg-Inter - This is the perfect class for new Dance Trance students to learn the DT choreography. Advanced students also love this class because they have the opportunity to talk about routines  and learn more intricate movements.  Break Down (DTBD) is a workout class where each routine is reviewed and “broken down.” Typically there are 2-3 songs introduced, reviewed and repeated per class. This is one of our most successful programs because all students want to participate, learn and grow.

Dance Trance (DT) Inter- Adv – Dance Trance is a dance fitness class that requires no dance experience. This is a high energy, great cardio workout that incorporates funk, house, rock Latin, Jazz, hip-hop and other types of rhythm movements to the beats of music from all genres. This is your jam class and does not include much instruction on specific moves. You simply follow along with the instructor.

    Q&A
    What do I wear?
Students wear dance pants, tees, and anything they feel comfortable dancing in. Gym or aerobic shoes are required for this class. The smoother the sole, the better for turning purposes. Running shoes are not recommended for this class due to the heavy side movement and turning.

New to Dance Trance? The DT choreography is created in a manner that allows students to pick up combinations as they learn.   There are no tricked up combinations that are difficult to follow. No add-on choreography that makes it impossible to learn. You will get to see and practice the routines in every class. You can follow this class without knowing a single step! The key to Dance Trance is repetition, so the more you come in to any class, the better your execution and your workout!

Can I pay per class? We have drop in rates for classes. Each class is $10 unless you have a local merchant coupon or discount ad. We do not have any contracts or registration fees. You can pay per class for as long as you’d like.

    Bio: Stephanie Kohn, Director
Stephanie thought dancing was a part of her past once she graduated and joined the world of full time working adults.  She grew up attending ballet classes every day until college through the Pensacola School of Ballet and then explored other forms of dance through college dance classes; however, her love of dance was replaced with her career as she struggled to find a dance outlet that met her work schedule and was an effective fitness workout. She forced herself to suffer through the typical cardio and weight lifting exercises and even hired a personal trainer to help her find motivation and new ways of doing the same old exercises, but nothing kept her interest for long.  “I needed a workout that demanded my mental attention on top of being an effective workout.  I found myself obsessing about other things on my to-do list while at the gym which just led to a rushed workout and more stress.”  Then in 2007, she was invited to a Dance Trance class in Jacksonville, FL taught by Jay and Beth Handline and was immediately hooked.  Stephanie became a Dance Trance Instructor for the San Marco Jacksonville studio and when her husband’s job relocated them to North Carolina she knew she couldn’t live without her Dance Trance obsession.  Dance Trance Winston Salem launched May 2010 and continues to bring the dance trance party to North Carolina!
