Welcome to the other side of fitness! If you are looking for a new and exciting workout you have found it! Dance Trance was created in 1986 by Jay & Beth Handline. Presently, Dance Trance locations are rapidly popping up around the globe via our Dance Trance License and Certification program. Jay & Beth presently teach Dance Trance classes at the Jacksonville, Florida location. Their program is unique because all studios share and maintain the same choreography. This keeps the music and combinations fresh and alive at each studio. At all locations each class is packed and full of energy because of the variety and music selection this tight network offers. In 2011 we decided to move out of the gym into our own studio location. Please join us on the dance floor!

Instructor Bios:
Mary Hencher Director
Mary has been addicted to Dance Trance since January 2006 when she took a DT Intro class just to see what it was like. She immediately knew it was right for her and fell in love with the funky music and awesome choreography. Mary took dance classes since the age of 5 and up through high school. Dance Trance has brought back those old memories and good times. Mary is presently working as a Clinical Pharmacist. She says “DT has been the best workout and stress reliever ever!” Mary is looking forward to leading classes and is excited about her future with Dance Trance Gainesville.
Marissa Leahy
Marissa moved to Florida in 2003 from Pennsylvania where she was a competitive dance cheerleader. After school was over, Marissa was lost without her daily stress relief (dancing). When she moved to Florida she struggled to find a place to dance and have fun. It took a year of being in Gainesville to run in to Melissa at O’rion’s Gym. After the first Dance Trance class, she knew she had finally found what she had been longing for! Melissa has been working on training with Marissa to become a DT Instructor. Marissa is grateful for the opportunity and looks forward to representing DT Gainesville.
Natalie Gibson
Natalie moved from northern Virginia to Gainesville in 2006 to get her master’s in occupational therapy at UF. She started dancing at age 3, was on a dance team in high school and college, and found DT at Orion Fitness just when she was about to give up on finding some kind of fun way to keep dancing – she has been totally hooked ever since! Although she loves all of the creative choreography, her heart will always be with hip hop. Now working as an occupational therapist in adult physical rehabilitation, she absolutely loves having Dance Trance in her life to keep in shape, forget about the stress of the day, hang out with amazing people, and just dance!
Sonya Sutton
Sonya is from Sarasota, Florida and attended the University of Florida (Go Gators!). She is a Cardiovascular Technologist and enjoys dancing as part of a healthy lifestyle. Since the age of four, she has been involved in tap, ballet and jazz. Sonya loves dancing to all types of music, but hip-hop is her favorite. Dance Trance has provided her with an opportunity to have fun while working out. Sonya is proud to be part of the Dance Trance team!
Erica Rudawski
Erica grew up near Daytona Beach and moved to Gainesville to go to school at UF. She got her master’s degree in early childhood education and now works as a Kindergarten teacher. She has been dancing on and off ever since she was a little girl and was on the dance team in high school as well as in a dance company while at UF. Upon graduating Erica was looking for a way to be able to continue dancing and she has found it through dance trance.

About six months ago a friend of mine told me about this fun class she took called Dance Trance. I asked her “what the heck is Dance Trance?” She said "it's really fun you should try it." So I did, and now I’m hooked! Great workout and lots of fun! The people are all so nice and the classes are great for my schedule. Sarasota Dance Trance Rocks my world!
There is nothing like DT....You lose yourself in the music and feel like you're on stage, you get an amazing workout that is so much fun you don't ever want to stop.
