Dance Trance Fitness Review of 2012

Dance Trance is off for another fantastic year! We danced our way through 2012 and opened more than 10 new locations (http://dancetrancefitness.com/locations/) that are throwing down classes for the New Year!! We have a had so many events and accomplishments this year we are going to break it down for you in the sections below.

We hope you have another fantastic year dancing in your region! If you want to consider opening a Dance Trance program in your area, please do not hesitate to contact us. The more people that we can get to experience a Dance Trance class, the happier they will be!!

Groove Tour 2012

Dance Trance Does Vegas

We held a Groove Tour in Vegas this year that brought all our students, directors and instructors together to have a great time and take Dance Trance class! This is a vacation type package we set up so that all locations can come together at exotic locations and have a good time. As an additional bonus to a great vacation package, we hold a few classes so that we can dance together!!

Directors Video Site

This year we added a Dance Trance video secure site so that we can post our new routines for licensed directors. This lets all our regions have immediate access to the latest choreography that our DT Choreo Team is throwing out.

We have the coolest line of dance wear out there! New apparel lines were introduced this year and added to our Directors discount site where they can purchased at heavy discounted rates in order to increase revenue at their location. Coming Soon: Dance Trance labeled active-wear.

Instructor Workshops

All New Choreography

Twice a year we hold instructor workshops for all instructors of Dance Trance. This workshop is an opportunity to get together, socialize and learn new choreography. Working together as a unit is an important part of our program. The most successful studios attend workshops on a regular basis.

If you are interested in starting a Dance Trance, you may attend one of these workshops to get a better understanding of what DT is about. Special exception is required, inquiries can be sent to Beth@dancetrancefitness.com.

We finally have a finished commercial for 2011! Jay’s vision of a little girl that enjoyed dance for many years and then finally “found what she’d been waiting for” comes across beautifully in this footage filmed by Carlos Bouvier (Fims by Design).

We also want to thank Stuido 1014 and Erin Dermond’s Creative Movement kids class for letting us take footage at their classes. And of course for all of you that came out to help us with the Dance Trance footage…you really rock’d it!!

Our kids program is a great fitness experience for boys and girls. Our classes run year round and are not dependent on semester quarters. Our kids program is made up of fun choreographed routines with an emphasis on movement and having a good time. We do not have recitals or contracts!

NEW!! PACE 12 WEEK BEGINNERS PROGRAM: This program is still open for registration. Drop in students are welcome.

This program is a little different than our PREP class that runs on a regular basis throughout the year. PACE is a course that is progressive and includes more information on choreography, dance technique, musicology, nutrition, strength training and flexibility. This course starts out at a very slow comfortable pace and then progresses to a faster pace during the quarter. This program is now open at our San Marco location and will run at on Mon and Wed 7-8 PM and Sundays 6-7 PM. This is a great way to get moving for the new year!!

*Persons with an All Access Pass or 10 Class Card may attend this class, so just drop in and learn some new moves!

Gayle McGee

Gayle has been with Dance Trance since the very beginning for close to 30 years now. She is known for her full on, non-stop, high energy sessions combined with a great mix of music. She is passionate about providing a great workout on the dance floor.

Susi Wallace

Susi holds a black belt in Martial Arts and brings a strong background in fitness and dance. Her precise style and graceful movement in class motivate and inspire you to dance to your best ability.

Mary Goodwin

Mary has been teaching Dance Trance classes since 1990 and has become one of our favorite choreographers. Her fun loving approach and infectious energy always makes for a great class.

Beth Handline (Global Manager and Co-Owner)

Beth has been teaching dance fitness for over fifteen years. She started teaching Jay’s choreography in the early stages of the formation of the Dance Trance (DT) program. In high school, she enjoyed competitive figure skating and cycling but never took traditional dance lessons. She was attracted to dance as a form of fitness after getting bored with the poor music selection and repetitive moves choreographed during aerobic classes. Once she found DT, she traveled with Jay and had the opportunity to dance with many of our idols and icons from studios in LA to New York City. She married Jay Handline in 1993, and together they created the DancenetFitness.com website and refined the Dance Trance program. Beth graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1995 and is a Registered Nurse & Biochemistry Major. She worked as an Anesthesia Research Coordinator at UAB and Liver Transplant Coordinator at Mayo Clinic prior to devoting all of her time to Dance Trance.

Together Beth and Jay are responsible for creating a unique studio model for dance fitness at their innovative studio in San Marco. When building the studio, they worked on design and presentation of an atmosphere that would offer students a unique place to come and feel passion about their workout. Sound, lighting and art all come together to create a place where students can come and get an emotional release. Beth says that building this studio was her dream and she enjoys sharing it with the community to make it a place where you know there’s going to be something spectacular going on!

Currently Beth runs the Global Dance Trance Liscensure program and teaches classes at her two studios located in Jacksonville, Florida (San Marco & Neptune Beach). She not only manages Dance Trance but also has two funky fashion retail stores that carry the latest in active-wear & accessories. She is also well known for holding spectacular fashion & music events in the community. She has brought fashion, fitness and dance together to create a lifestyle brand that is almost impossible to ignore. It’s about time!
